How double occupancy works
Rooms are priced per person, so two friends sharing a room each pay their individual rate — which is more affordable than single occupancy. Each person registers and pays completely separately, so you can each use your own payment method, frequent flier miles card, or Affirm payment plan.
When you register, simply enter your roommate's name and email. We'll confirm your pairing before sending either of you a payment link, so you can both be sure the room is secured together.

Tip: We strongly recommend submitting at the same time. Shared rooms will be filled along with single occupant rooms on a first come, first served basis, based on when we receive BOTH registration forms. We are not able to 'hold' a shared room with a single registration.
Your spot is fully confirmed when we have all four of these:

Travel insurance is mandatory for all participants. Once you've paid your deposit, you have 7 days to purchase a policy and submit proof to us at retreats@magpiefibers.com. Spots not secured with proof of insurance within 7 days will be released to the next guest on our waiting list.
What to look for in a policy
We strongly recommend "cancel for any reason" (CFAR) coverage. Your policy should also cover medical evacuation, trip interruption, and lost baggage.

Can I reserve a room without paying right away?
Rooms cannot be held without a completed registration form. Once you submit your registration, we'll review it and send your personal payment link within 1–2 business days. Your spot is secured when payment is received.
What if the retreat sells out before my friend registers?
We strongly encourage both roommates to register at the same time. We confirm double-occupancy pairs together — if one person's preferred room tier sells out before their roommate registers, we'll be in touch to discuss alternatives.
Can I use Affirm or pay in installments?
Yes. Your payment link supports Affirm, all major credit cards, Apple Pay, and PayPal. Each participant pays via their own individual link, so you and your travel companion can each choose the payment method that works best for you.
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellations more than 150 days before departure (before Sep 8, 2026) receive a full refund less a $150 processing fee. Cancellations 100–149 days out retain 50% of the total price. Cancellations 70–99 days out retain 75%. No refunds within 70 days of departure. Full details are in Section 08 below.
What if the retreat sells out — will you add a second date?
Possibly! If demand is strong we may open a second retreat in early March 2027.

Can I bring my family along?
'The Maker's Retreat' is designed as your time — a rare chance to step away from everyday roles and responsibilities. This retreat is a dedicated space for you and your fellow makers. To protect that experience for everyone we kindly ask that guests travel without spouses, partners, or children.

All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing to retreats@magpiefibers.com. Cancellations are effective on the date the written request is received.

In the unlikely event that Magpie Fibers must cancel the retreat due to circumstances beyond our control — such as extreme weather, geopolitical events, or public health emergencies — we will make every effort to recover costs from our suppliers and pass those refunds to you in full. Any costs that cannot be recovered from suppliers are precisely why we require travel insurance with CFAR coverage. Magpie Fibers will never cancel for anything less than a genuine emergency, and our commitment to our guests always comes first.
