We're doing something different. We wanted to create a space for all makers to restore, renew, and reclaim their creative selves. There are no required sessions, no homework, no pressure to produce. We're going to Belize to explore, connect, and make things — on our own terms.
Whether you knit, crochet, embroider, sew, paint, or make anything at all — if you're a maker who loves adventure and community, this trip was built for you.

7 Nights Accommodation
4 nights at Sleeping Giant Rainforest Lodge in the jungle. 3 nights at Barefoot Caye Caulker Hotel on the Caribbean Sea.
Meals & Experiences
Most meals included across both properties. Guided tours, cave tubing, snorkeling, ruins, sunset cruises — it's all on the itinerary.

Dami, Samm, and Kiki will be with you the entire week — not as teachers or facilitators, just as fellow makers who happen to know a good adventure when they see one.
Dami is a Washington, DC native with a deep love of travel and an instinct for the places that are worth the journey — Belize, she will tell you, is absolutely one of them. One visit in 2022 was all it took — she has been going back ever since. As the founder of Magpie Fibers, she has spent years building a creative community around the belief that making things is best done in good company. The Makers' Retreat brings that philosophy somewhere worthy of it. After all, what could be better than traveling to wonderful places with wonderful people?
Samm is the engine behind Magpie Fibers — managing daily operations and steering the creative vision. A Frederick, Maryland native and mother of two, she is also, as it turns out, an excellent travel companion. Samm has joined Dami on many adventures and has made her way to Belize several times — enough to know that the magic is real and very much worth the journey. On the retreat, she brings all of that: the organizational instincts, the creative eye, and the genuine enthusiasm of someone who already can't wait to go back.
Kiki is the heart of the Magpie Fibers dye studio — the person responsible for the colors you fall in love with and the yarn that actually makes it into your hands. A California native with a warmth that makes everyone in the room feel immediately at ease. She has traveled widely and has made the trip to Belize alongside Dami and Samm — so when she tells you it's worth it, she means it firsthand. On the retreat, she brings her craft expertise, her easy energy, and the very good news that she already knows where the magic is.
